What to do in Bologna (18–19 April 2026): music, exhibitions and workshops for families

On the weekend of 18 and 19 April 2026, Bologna hosts family-oriented events including performances with historic instruments, guided tours and a children’s workshop, organized within the Genus Bononiae cultural project.

  • Saturday 18 April, 4:00 PM – Museo San Colombano: concert "All’ombra di sospetto. Musiche per flauto nelle corti del Settecento" featuring historic instruments from the Collezione Tagliavini; a chance to introduce children to baroque music.
  • Saturday 18 April, 4:00 PM – Palazzo Fava: guided tour of the exhibition "Banksy Archive 01 – The School of Bristol 1983–2005"; ideal for adults and teens interested in street art.
  • Saturday 18 April, 4:30 PM – Complesso di Santa Maria della Vita: "A cat among the statues" workshop-visit as part of BOOK! Crescere tra i libri, a playful, narrative activity that brings children closer to Niccolò dell’Arca’s Compianto sculpture.
  • Sunday 19 April, 11:00 AM – Museo San Colombano: guided tour of the museum and the Collezione Tagliavini, suitable for families curious about historic musical instruments.
  • Sunday 19 April, 5:00 PM – Museo San Colombano: participatory choral concert "I sing, you sing" by Coro Ad Maiora in collaboration with Mikrokosmos APS; the audience is invited to sing along, recommended for older children and families.

Practical tips: events have limited capacity—booking on the Genus Bononiae official website is recommended. Check the site for updated times and access rules before attending.
