The Museum of Casale Monferrato offers two guided tours of the exhibition Here Italy is made. The image of the hero from Bistolfi to Baroni, aimed at exploring how the figure of the hero was represented in Italian art from the post‑unification period to the early postwar years.
The exhibition traces the evolution of heroic iconography from the early post‑unification years to the first postwar period, highlighting rhetorical styles and classical references. On display are drawings, bas‑reliefs, plaster sculptures and restored works, some of them previously unpublished.
Featured artists include Giuseppe Bistolfi, Eugenio Baroni, Gaetano Previati, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Plinio Nomellini, Libero Andreotti and Eliseo Sala. The scientific committee comprises Sandra Berresford, Leo Lecci and Aurora Scotti.
Practical tips: the guided tours are ideal for visitors who want historical context and access to rarely exhibited materials. Arriving a few minutes early is recommended to ensure timely start and group organization.
