Guided tour: “Here Italy Is Made. The Image of the Hero from Bistolfi to Baroni”

On Saturday, 11 April 2026 at 16:00 the Museo Civico e Gipsoteca Bistolfi in Casale Monferrato hosts the second guided tour of the exhibition Here Italy Is Made. The Image of the Hero from Bistolfi to Baroni.

The show presents a focused narrative on how the figure of the hero was portrayed in Italian sculpture and painting from the early years of national unity through the immediate post‑war period.

Highlights

  • Works by Antonio Bistolfi and Eugenio Baroni, including plaster sculptures, bas‑reliefs and drawings.
  • Paintings and sculptural works by Gaetano Previati, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Plinio Nomellini, Libero Andreotti and Eliseo Sala.
  • A selection from the “Martelli‑Bistolfi 2021/2023” donation, partly restored and partly previously unpublished.
  • Exhibition materials curated by the scientific committee: Sandra Berresford, Leo Lecci and Aurora Scotti.

The event is organised through collaboration between the City of Casale Monferrato, the local Rotary Club and the De Ferrari Foundation, with support from the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation and local sponsors.
