On the closing day of Vinitaly 2026, Italian Cuisine was honored in a dedicated institutional event marking its recognition as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The gathering took place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in the stand organized by AB Comunicazioni and promoted by ENIT.
The highlight was a lunch staged by Euro-Toques Italy and led by chef Enrico Derflingher, featuring the signature "Re Carlo" risotto. Renowned pastry chef Iginio Massari closed the menu with a dessert designed to celebrate Italy's confectionery traditions.
Key government and regional representatives attended, underscoring the cultural importance of the UNESCO recognition:
The menu showcased Italian supply chains and producers: Riserva San Massimo rice, Olio Gradassi, Arkania saffron, Urbani truffles, Parmigiano Reggiano Boni, Gorgonzola Bassi and Franciacorta Bellavista sparkling wines. The event highlighted how culinary heritage is built on artisanal skills, local producers and territory.
Recognizing Italian Cuisine as intangible heritage strengthens the promotion of Italy's UNESCO-listed places: culinary traditions help valorize territories, crafts and biodiversity that define many heritage sites. Events like this foster cooperation among institutions, cultural operators and producers to connect tangible and intangible heritage across the country.
Practical note: the lunch took place on April 12, 2026, during Vinitaly. For future events and schedules, consult official program sources.
