VerdeMura 2026: a family-friendly green event on Lucca's walls

VerdeMura 2026 attracted over 20,000 visitors, confirming its role as a popular event for green enthusiasts and families. Across three days the fair combined plant exhibitions, expert talks and numerous workshops aimed at children.

More than 170 exhibitors from Italy and abroad participated. Many plant varieties sold out quickly and nurseries were able to restock in the evenings. Flexible ticket options, including an open-date pass and a family ticket, encouraged broad family participation.

Children's activities and workshops

The programme featured nearly 50 events over three days, including the Young Gardening pathway and several educational initiatives to introduce children to plant care and respect for nature and animals.

• Young Gardening: hands-on workshops for children, all sold out, focused on planting and plant care;
• Fiorabilmente: activities for all ages with demonstrations and dedicated relaxation areas;
• Guided visits: tours of the Botanical Garden and the “Camellia 26” exhibition in collaboration with nursery Rhododendron;
• Live demonstrations: sessions led by master gardeners and pastry chefs that animated the program.

Speakers and awards

Notable guests included master gardener Carlo Pagani, hybridizer Gitte Adahl from Sweden, foraging expert Emanuela Vanda, Francesco Diliddo and Andrea Micale. The VerdeMura awards went to nurseries Campolungo, Gardenesque and Il Sorbo.

Upcoming dates

If you enjoyed this event, note that VerdeMura will return from 2 to 4 April 2027. The 25th edition of Murabilia is also scheduled from 4 to 6 September on Lucca’s walls.
