Venaria mourns Gianni Gallian, last guardian of the city's photography

Gianni Gallian passed away on Friday 24 April 2026 at the age of 76. A central figure in Venaria Reale's visual memory, Gallian was a photographer, painter and cultural organizer who chronicled the town's life and changes through his images and projects.

Born on 3 August 1949, he began his artistic training early at the Institute for Graphic Arts and Photography in Turin. Over his career he organized more than 250 solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad and contributed to several historical and cultural publications about the region.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday 28 April 2026 at 10:15 at the parish of Santa Maria, with a procession departing from Via Medici del Vascello. A rosary will be recited on Monday 27 April 2026 at 18:00 in the same church.
