UNESCO Shared Heritage: free teacher training and guided visits
The "UNESCO Shared Heritage" project offers a free training path for primary and secondary school teachers in Lombardy. The programme combines a full-day conference in Milan with a series of guided visits to the region's major UNESCO Sites, providing practical resources to bring cultural heritage into the classroom.
Main programme
- 18 May 2026 – Introductory conference at Palazzo Lombardia, Milan: teaching presentations, talks by art historians, sessions on science and technology applied to heritage, and participatory workshops (including a Lego Serious Play activity).
Schedule of free guided visits
- 23 May 2026 – Castelseprio and Torba Monastery (Longobard heritage).
- 24 May 2026 – Isolino Virginia (pile-dwelling site, prehistoric heritage).
- 30 May 2026 – San Salvatore–Santa Giulia monumental complex, Brescia.
- 31 May 2026 – Val Camonica: rock engravings, Archaeological Park of the Cemmo Boulders, MUPRE in Capo di Ponte.
- 6 June 2026 – The Last Supper (Cenacolo Vinciano) and Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan.
- 7 June 2026 – The Avenue of Chapels at the Sacro Monte of Varese.
Resources and educational goals
Participating teachers will have access to teaching kits, podcasts, video interviews and courses developed with the UNESCO Chair at the Politecnico di Milano (Mantua territorial centre). Materials are designed for classroom activities and educational field trips.
