Umbria Wine Trekking: spring hikes among vineyards and local flavors

The Movimento turismo del vino Umbria presents the spring edition of Umbria Wine Trekking, a program of guided walks and cellar visits that combines trekking through vineyards, olive groves and woods with tastings and meetings with local producers. Events take place across key Umbrian wine areas, notably Montefalco, the Perugia area, Assisi, Bettona, Marsciano, Collazzone and Orvieto.

Routes are offered as loops or linear itineraries through countryside and historic villages, usually ending with a cellar tasting and, in some cases, a lunch or a light dinner. The timing takes advantage of spring when vines green up and the landscape is dotted with blooms.

Summary schedule

• 25 April 2026 — Bevagna (Azienda Agricola Mevante): afternoon loop through countryside and vineyards, return to the cellar for tasting and light dinner.
• 26 April 2026 — La Bruna area, Perugia (Chiesa del Carmine): route across Monte Tezio valley and Castiglion Ugolino, followed by a cellar visit and organic product tasting.
• 2 May 2026 — Montefalco (Fongoli): loop hike to the castle of Gaglioli, visit to the old barrel cellar and biodynamic wine tasting.
• 3 May 2026 — Montefalco (Perticaia): walk among vineyards and olive groves with a final visit and tasting.
• 3, 17, 23 May and 7 June 2026 — Assisi (Cantina Meazzi): forest loop trails along Mora paths with lunch and wine tasting.
• 6 and 16 May 2026 — Montefalco / Fongoli and other estates: excursions and tastings across the Montefalco area.
• 9 May 2026 — Multiple simultaneous events: Colle Umberto (Azienda Agricola Carini), Rocca Ripesena/Orvieto (Palazzone) and Montefalco (Scacciadiavoli) with walks through vineyards, olive groves and medieval villages followed by tastings/lunches.
• 9 and 16 May 2026 — Bettona (Vetunna): vineyard trekking with convivial moments and picnic tastings.
• 10 May 2026 — Perugia (Goretti) and Collazzone (Baldassarri): routes through vineyards and rural views with tasting and lunch.
• 13 and 14 June 2026 — Montefalco (Scacciadiavoli) and other producers: itineraries among olive groves and villages with final tastings (events scheduled on 13 and 14 June for some wineries).
• 16 May 2026 — Sant'Enea (Chiorri) and Marsciano (Cantina La Spina): walks between vineyards and villages, castle visit and tastings; Vetunna offers a repeat proposal.
• 17 May 2026 — Bevagna (La Fonte Azienda Agricola): countryside route with cellar tasting to conclude.

Timetable and bookings: most days begin with reception at 8:30 and departures from 9:00; specific arrangements are set by each winery. The initiative is family-friendly and recommended for children aged 10 and over.

The aim is to link wine knowledge with landscape appreciation: hiking becomes a tool to reveal the character of the territories and to meet the producers who shape them.
