Transfigurations at the Ricci Oddi Modern Art Gallery

When: 5-7 June 2026 (opening ceremony on 2 June).
Where: Galleria d’Arte Moderna Ricci Oddi, Piacenza, Italy.

On the 80th anniversary of women's suffrage in Italy, the collective dAS de Arte Saltandi presents Transfigurations – female portraits in motion, curated by Riccardo Buscarini. The project converts paintings from the gallery's collection into performative languages—choreography, music, video and installation—engaging directly with the museum spaces.

Program highlights

  • Stefania Ballone develops a piece in dialogue with Giacomo Grosso's Toilette, examining the ambiguity between private moments and the public gaze.
  • Jacopo Jenna presents RITRARSI, a looping video installation inspired by Amedeo Bocchi's La colazione del mattino, contrasting the painting's serenity with the restlessness of performer Petra Audrey Mangoua Youaleu.
  • Roberta Racis stages a site-specific version of Nulla dies sine linea, where whipcracking becomes a metaphor for a bold, emancipated femininity in conversation with Giulio Aristide Sartorio's symbolism.
  • Guided movement and spoken-word pathways in the gallery garden and entrance led by Prof. Valeria Poli and dancer Chiara Montalbani, alternating stillness and motion.
  • Live music experiments: flautist Alessandra Rombolà creates an instant composition inspired by Ettore Tito's Le Ninfe; Denny Cavalloni (live electronics) and Chiara Pavesi (cello) offer a sound journey featuring music by women across periods.

Talks and family programmes

  • 6 June: Eugenia Casini Ropa traces the history of dancers who abandoned pointe shoes to perform barefoot and the cultural shifts that followed.
  • 7 June, morning: a panel on choice and suffrage with Linda Laura Sabbadini, Camilla Federici and Elisa Messina, moderated by Elisabetta Consonni.
  • 7 June, afternoon: a musical talk with soprano Agnes Sipos focusing on the countertenor voice and its distinctive features.
  • Family activities include the children's performance TRIP (company Nika) for ages 2–5 and the primary school workshop Moon. The self-portrait game led by Valentina Zanzi.

Practical info: several works are site-specific and scheduled at fixed times across the gallery's indoor and outdoor spaces. Check the gallery's official channels for the full timetable and booking details.
