THE SOUND OF PREMIUM: Continental’s sound installation at BASE Milano

As part of Milan Design Week 2026, Continental brings THE SOUND OF PREMIUM to BASE Milano: an immersive sonic journey exploring the relationship between urban environments, mobility and acoustic quality. Visitors move through three staged moments — chaos, harmony and quiet — observing how urban soundscapes can be shaped by engineering and design choices.

The project highlights the tyre as both an engineering object and a designed artifact: beyond its technical role, it significantly affects acoustic comfort in cities and inside vehicles. The experience is compact and immersive, with interactive elements that allow attendees to replay and engage with the sound piece.

THE SOUND OF PREMIUM offers a contemporary perspective: as electric mobility spreads, much of the city’s acoustic identity depends on tyre‑road interaction. The installation merges automotive technology, architecture and contemporary artistic practice to prompt reflection on acoustic comfort and the design value of everyday components.
