Castiglione della Pescaia honors Carlo Fruttero: exhibition and centenary events

Castiglione della Pescaia is participating in the cultural project “Il Club Fruttero – The Centenary (1926–2026)”, promoted by the Arnoldo and Alberto Mondadori Foundation. The local program features an exhibition and a series of public events concentrated on 18 and 19 September 2026, aligned with the writer's birth anniversary.

The municipality, in agreement with Fruttero's heirs, previously dedicated the Belvedere Fruttero in recognition of the author's ties to the town. The 2026 program expands this tribute with activities designed to highlight the connection between the author and the local landscape.

• 18–19 September 2026 – exhibition opening and special public activities;
• Special screening of the film "La donna della domenica," adapted from the novel by Fruttero and Lucentini;
• Guided walk through Roccamare, a place closely linked to the author;
• Evening event at the Castle, a key landmark of Castiglione della Pescaia.

In addition to the September events, the town's summer calendar includes tributes to Fruttero: Note al Chiaro di Luna at the Casa Rossa (20 August), a session of the Castiglione Racconta literary series (30 July), and the summer Fuochi a mare fireworks scheduled for 20 August, all dedicated this year to the writer.

Aim and participation: these initiatives aim to bring residents and visitors closer to Fruttero's work and legacy through accessible cultural events and guided routes. The project is realized with the collaboration of the Mondadori Foundation and the author's daughters.
