From April 15 to 21, Villa Altieri in Rome hosts Terra Mater, an exhibition that pairs painter Francesco Campese with photographer Antonio Solarino for the first time. The show stages a conversation between two visual approaches focused on origin, memory and place.
The selected works — paintings and photographs — go beyond documentary representation to create intimate landscapes. Drawing on references from Sicily and Irpinia, the pieces evoke childhood traces and collective memories. Muted atmospheres, visual silences and veiled light shape a suspended, evocative itinerary.
Although they work in different media, Campese and Solarino address the same question: what remains of a place when it becomes memory? The exhibition lets painting and photography answer one another, complementing rather than overlapping.
Practical tip: the exhibition suits visitors looking for a contemplative visit. Check opening hours in advance by calling the contact number provided.
