Taranto officially welcomes the Christmas season with the 2025 Christmas Lights Festival, the city-wide illumination project that turns the urban landscape into a festive route of light. The official switch-on ceremony will take place on 22 November 2025 in Piazza Maria Immacolata, coinciding with the traditional Feast of Saint Cecilia, marking the start of the holiday celebrations.
From that day until 6 January 2026, streets, squares and neighborhoods across Taranto will be enhanced by festive light installations, LED decorations and luminous displays designed to highlight the city’s architecture and create a shared Christmas atmosphere. The festival extends beyond the city center, involving the Borgo Umbertino, the Old Town and several outer districts, ensuring an inclusive and city-wide celebration.
The Christmas Lights Festival is part of the official “Christmas in Taranto” program promoted by the Municipality, aiming to boost social interaction, support local businesses and encourage the use of public spaces during the winter season.
Evening walks through Taranto during the holidays offer residents and visitors a transformed urban experience, where light becomes a symbol of community, tradition and renewal, making the City of the Two Seas shine throughout the Christmas season.
