A short, scenic route along the Olona

The cycle-pedestrian path from the Gurone Mills to the historic centre of Castiglione Olona runs for about five kilometres. Mostly paved and secure, it’s suitable for walking, cycling and family outings. Part of the route follows the former Valmorea railway bed and was improved under the Province's Bike&Walk initiative.

• Gurone Mills: a small historic cluster on the riverbank with channels and buildings linked to milling and artisanal activities dating back to the 1500s.
• Dam and flood retention basins: hydraulic works designed to contain the Olona’s floods and reduce downstream flood risk, integrated into the river landscape.

• Points to watch: the SP57 crossing between Ponte di Vedano and the Lozza plain is the only significant road crossing—exercise caution.
• Tips: bring water and wear comfortable shoes; cyclists should have front/rear lights for shaded sections. Respect signage and pedestrian zones.
• Parking and access: start from the Gurone Mills area or the old Castiglione Olona station for a one-way route.
