European Parks Week 2026: three days at Monti Aurunci Park

When: From 22 to 24 May 2026

Parco Naturale dei Monti Aurunci marks European Parks Week with a series of events across the territory aimed at promoting nature, culture and local specialties. Activities take place in Itri, Formia, Maranola, Monte Altino and Rifugio Pornito.

Main activities

• Guided hikes on trails of the Aurunci area, suitable for various skill levels;
• Educational and creative workshops for children and adults;
• Promotional stands of Lazio parks and displays of artisanal products;
• Tastings of local gastronomic specialties;
• Musical entertainment featuring Aurunci historical repertoire and live shows;
• Hot-air balloon flights and outdoor activities to observe the landscape from different perspectives.

Institutional meeting: On Saturday 23 May a forum with local, regional and European representatives will discuss sustainable and inclusive management of protected areas.

Goals and audience

The initiative seeks to combine biodiversity conservation with sustainable tourism development, fostering environmental education, resource protection and support for local economies. Events are suitable for families, hikers and nature enthusiasts.
