Santo Stefano del Sole has been selected as a host for 'Primavera nei Borghi', the nationwide program organized by Archeoclub d'Italia aimed at enhancing Italy's small historic centers. The Irpinian village is the sole representative from the province of Avellino and will participate on Sunday, 19 April 2026.
The initiative includes 19 villages across Italy and promotes mindful rediscovery of local cultural identities through heritage walks, workshops, tastings of typical products and storytelling events that highlight often overlooked historical and architectural assets.
This recognition reflects close cooperation between the local administration and cultural associations. Mayor Gerardo Santoli emphasized the event's role in territorial promotion and protection, acknowledging the contribution of Prof.ssa Flora Rizzo, Vice President of Archeoclub d'Italia, and Prof.ssa Ileniza D’Oria, President of Archeoclub Avellino, for their work in promoting the area's environmental and monumental heritage.
