Chronotopes of the Soul — Eugenio De Medio at MuMi

Opening: Thursday 16 April 2026, 6:00 PM

Exhibition period: from 16/04/2026 to 03/05/2026. Visiting hours: 4:00–8:00 PM (closed on Mondays and May 1).

This solo show gathers key works from Eugenio De Medio's long-term research, where archaeological practice meets painting. The exhibition highlights the artist's exploration of Being and Becoming through accumulation and material excavation: paint surfaces are treated as layered bodies that preserve and reveal traces of time.

Central to De Medio's approach is the neologism "arteologist": a method that transposes techniques and sensibilities from archaeological sites onto the pictorial support. Using a spatula, the artist unveils underlying stages, making the invisible visible and giving form to temporal sediment.

  • Main themes: Labyrinths (iconic signs and growth patterns), The Egg (primordial forms of genesis), and Chronotopes (works that break two-dimensionality with folds and creases).
  • Support and patronage: promoted by local cultural associations and supported by municipal and Rotary organizations.
  • Who should visit: recommended for visitors interested in material experimentation and poetic readings of time within contemporary painting.

The exhibition focuses on enduring questions about existence, seeking resonance in the material as a carrier of sacred and mnemonic value. For ticketing and guided visit details, contact the museum directly.
