Barbecue and practical rules
For picnics, equipped areas and specific measures are in place to minimise risk and protect the environment:
- Four equipped barbecue areas with windbreaks are available at San Rossore; during peak days, the lawn at the rondò of Cascine Vecchie may be exceptionally allowed, provided paths and access remain clear.
- Allowed barbecue hours: from 11:00 to 16:00.
- Bring raised braziers and take precautions to prevent fires.
- Bring at least 5 litres of water per station to extinguish embers if necessary.
- Ashes must be disposed of in appropriate containers; do not throw them into public bins.
Opening times, access and supervision
- The Tenuta is open from 07:30 to 19:30.
- About half of the area is freely accessible via marked trails; other parts are accessible only with an authorised guide.
- Park rangers, forest police and volunteers will increase their presence for patrols, information and extra cleaning services.
- Please keep the Park clean: carry out your waste for recycling or use the additional bins where provided.
Practical tips and bookings
- For guided tours, bike excursions, boat trips or horseback activities, book in advance with local operators.
- Wear suitable clothing and closed shoes for trails, and bring water and sun protection.
- Follow guidance from park staff and guides to protect sensitive habitats and species.
