From April 11 to 15, 2026, San Mauro Torinese presents a solo exhibition highlighting the work of Francesco Luchino (1938–2020). Hosted in the "Ilaria Alpi" Conference Hall at the Municipal Palace, the show gathers paintings that emphasise the relationship between everyday life and a poetic pictorial sensibility.
Self-taught and professionally active as a decorator, Luchino developed a personal language in which broad color fields and distilled figurations convey suspended atmospheres. The works on display focus on urban landscapes and domestic scenes, filtered through a refined emotional register.
Art critics have noted Luchino's ability to achieve visual economy and a strong use of color that recalls twentieth-century syntheses, while remaining rooted in local experience. Commentators such as Orazio Geraci, Giuliano Serafini and Vito Cracas have highlighted the narrative and chromatic qualities of his painting, and other scholars have praised the consistent expressive voice developed over his career.
This exhibition invites visitors to engage directly with the artist's work rather than seek exhaustive explanations. The opening takes place on Saturday, April 11 at 10:30 and will be followed by a small reception.
If you are looking for a cultural event in the area, the show is a chance to rediscover an authentic artistic presence who depicted San Mauro Torinese with clarity and restraint.
