Rome: finissage at Fondazione Venanzo Crocetti for exhibition of Japanese contemporary art in Italy

On Saturday 28 March the Fondazione Venanzo Crocetti will stage the finissage of the group exhibition "Uno spazio di scambi e connessioni. Forme dell’arte contemporanea giapponese nella penisola italica", highlighting exchanges between visual art and poetry.

Curated by Alberto Dambruoso and Mayumi Miyazawa, the show gathers works by Japanese artists who have carried out significant parts of their training and creative practice in Italy. The initiative is organised by the Fondazione Crocetti with support from the Ministry of Culture and under the patronage of the Fondazione Italia Giappone and the Japanese Cultural Institute in Rome; it forms part of the events marking the 160th anniversary of the Italy–Japan friendship treaty.

Finissage programme

• From 16:30 "Encounter with Japanese Poetry" (held with the patronage of FUIS), opening with greetings by Tetsuro Akanegakubo, Vice President of the Fondazione Crocetti.
• Contributions by Umberto Vattani (President of Fondazione Italia Giappone), Guidotto Colleoni (scholar of Japanese literature), and Diego Martina (writer and translator), in dialogue with Miho Tokimoto (Japanese language lecturer).
• Presentation of the bilingual (Italian/Japanese) exhibition catalogue published by Bordeaux Edizioni; curators, participating artists and the publisher will attend.

The finissage is an opportunity to explore creative trajectories born from cultural exchange and to hear poetic readings that enrich the interpretation of the exhibited works.
