The Galleria Ricci Oddi, a civic institution established in 1931, officially reopened on April 28, 2025 after approximately one year of restoration. The project aimed to restore the architectural harmony of the Giulio Ulisse Arata–designed building and to enhance the modern art collection housed at Via S. Siro 13, Piacenza.
The holdings span roughly a century of artistic production: over 1,000 works in total, with about 210 on display in the permanent route and regular rotations. Notable artists include Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Carlo Carrà, Umberto Boccioni, Medardo Rosso and Felice Casorati. Particularly significant is Gustav Klimt's "Portrait of a Lady", a work that helped raise the collection's international profile.
The restoration was funded with a €500,000 pool raised by 24 local entities — companies, associations, private donors and alumni — which also enabled the creation of a gallery space dedicated to local artists to promote regional talent.
To mark the reopening, the museum offered a week of free admission, an opportunity for residents and visitors to rediscover the gallery's heritage. It is recommended to check updated opening hours and ticketing information on the museum's official channels and to book guided tours for deeper insights into the collection.
