Autore: Redazione 11/04/2026 00:47

Protocol for borough tourism in Gallura

The Sardinia Region has formalized an agreement involving 15 certified boroughs in Gallura. The initiative aims to strengthen the local tourism offer and counteract depopulation, providing targeted funds for accessibility, hospitality and local economic promotion.

Funding and aims

The plan is financed with €38 million from the Fund for Development and Cohesion, evenly allocated among the 15 municipalities. Each town is set to receive approximately €2.5 million for projects to enhance historic centers and create new employment opportunities.

Operational objectives

  • Encourage off-season tourism and reduce coastal congestion;
  • Improve accessibility and usability of historic centres;
  • Support cultural, natural and food-and-wine promotion;
  • Tackle depopulation by fostering local economic initiatives.

The boroughs involved

  • Aggius
  • Atzara
  • Bosa
  • Carloforte
  • Castelsardo
  • Galtellì
  • Gavoi
  • Laconi
  • La Maddalena
  • Lollove (Nuoro)
  • Oliena
  • Posada
  • Sadali
  • Sardara
  • Tempio Pausania

The project aligns with the regional strategy to position Sardinia in the growing borough tourism market, emphasizing slow tourism elements such as walking routes, hiking and food & wine experiences to spread visitors across the territory and extend the tourist season.

Impact for visitors and local administrations

  • Visitors should see improved signage, upgraded hospitality services and more cultural and gastronomic events.
  • Local administrations will have funds for restoration, small-scale infrastructure, accessibility improvements and tourism promotion.

For event organizers and local businesses, the measure opens chances for public-private initiatives and projects aimed at increasing visitor stays beyond the high season.
