From 25 April to 2 June 2026, the Spring of the Oases returns with a nationwide program that activates over 100 WWF-managed protected areas in Italy. The initiative provides chances to explore habitats and emblematic species, join workshops and enjoy outdoor experiences suitable for families, schools and nature enthusiasts.
The WWF Oases cover more than 24,000 hectares from the Alps to the Sicilian coasts. These sites host conservation, research and environmental education activities that deliver tangible ecosystem services: clean water, CO2 absorption, protection from extreme events and accessible natural spaces close to communities.
The program is diverse and aimed at varied audiences. Typical offerings include:
The opening week features many activities concentrated over the weekend. Highlights include releases of rehabilitated animals, themed walks on wild herbs and pollinators, visits to riverine woodlands and coastal routes linking forest to sea. Each oasis offers a local schedule with events from the north to the central and southern regions.
The Spring of the Oases is a practical opportunity to reconnect with Italy's protected nature, learn about conservation efforts and actively contribute to biodiversity protection.
