The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art in Pordenone hosts the exhibition "Remembering Benedict XVI. Towards the centenary of his birth" until 12 April 2026. This is the first initiative in Italy and Europe dedicated to the centenary of Joseph Ratzinger (16 April 2027), offering visitors a close look at his life as a theologian and churchman.
The show is organised by the Centro Studi Odoriciani and the Associazione Eventi di Pordenone, with scientific partnership from the Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI Foundation and the patronage of the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
The route covers key phases of Ratzinger's public life: his years as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and his pontificate. The selection of artifacts aims to make his figure approachable for a broad audience.
The exhibition is accompanied by related events; notably, a concert at Palazzo Mantica on 11 April featuring Mozart, reflecting the Pope's love of music. The initiative is part of Pordenone's cultural programme towards its bid as Italian Capital of Culture 2027, including the "Open Patrimonio" project and other local festivals.
This exhibition is recommended for visitors interested in contemporary religious history, theology and local sacred heritage. It presents documentary and accessible insights into an influential figure of the modern Church.
