May Day long weekend at Palazzo Taglieschi: special openings and guided tours

The Palazzo Taglieschi National Museum in Anghiari will open its rooms for the May Day long weekend, presenting guided tours that highlight the museum's collections of folk arts and local heritage.

  • When: 1–3 May 2026, daily from 09:00 to 14:00 (hourly entries; last admission at 13:00).
  • Where: Palazzo Taglieschi National Museum, Anghiari.
  • Admission: price information not available; free entry on 3 May as part of the first-Sunday museum initiative.

The museum's openings align with the 51st Valtiberina Handicraft Market, which fills the historic town with workshops and stalls showcasing goldsmithing, wood carving, ceramics, leather goods, restoration and antiques, reinforcing ties between traditional crafts and the museum's collections.

As a focal point of the special opening, the museum will highlight a 1632 altarpiece by Matteo Rosselli, depicting the Crucifixion with Saint Biagio and Saint Francis of Assisi.

In addition to guided visits, the museum continues with maintenance work and online outreach: on 1 May a selection of ex-voto related to workplace accidents will be published on social channels to remember victims and raise awareness about occupational safety.

Practical information

  • Tours: visitors are accompanied by museum staff during scheduled hourly entries.
  • Local network: the museum participates in coordinated activities with other local cultural institutions.
  • Advice: check official channels for updates on times and admission before planning your visit.
