From 10 to 13 March 2026, Palermo is among the Italian cities showcased at MIPIM in Cannes, the leading international real estate fair. Within the Italian pavilion coordinated by ICE, the city promotes projects that link heritage enhancement to urban regeneration, targeting international investment.
The Palermo presentation focuses on two historic buildings overlooking Piazza Marina:
The initiatives aim to blend architectural restoration, economic sustainability and social impact. Investment options include a combined redevelopment of both buildings or an intervention focused solely on the Palazzo delle Finanze. Works are expected to be carried out with private capital under concession arrangements, with fees payable to the State.
City officials, including Mayor Roberto Lagalla and the Councillor for Urban Regeneration Maurizio Carta, stress that Palermo's presence at the fair promotes a sustainable urban development model that enhances historic heritage while generating new social and economic opportunities.
Practical note: these proposals are aimed at private operators interested in restoration and regeneration projects under concession schemes; technical details and tender information can be requested from municipal offices and the State Property Agency.
