Palazzo Tozzoni to host the permanent Bertozzi & Casoni museum

Autore: Redazione 08/04/2026 14:25

Palazzo Tozzoni becomes the permanent home of Bertozzi & Casoni

Palazzo Tozzoni, the historic house-museum in Imola, is set to host a permanent selection of works by the ceramic duo Bertozzi & Casoni. The initiative includes a targeted museographic revision that will integrate contemporary pieces within the palace's historic rooms, under the new name “Palazzo Tozzoni. Historic residence - Bertozzi & Casoni museum”.

The plan, developed by the management of Imola Musei and approved by the municipal administration, stems from a previous temporary exhibition and aims to create a continuous narrative through the palace where artworks become part of the living spaces rather than isolated displays.

What visitors can expect

  • Works on display: approximately 25–30 pieces, including five from Imola Musei collections; the remainder will be provided to the municipality under a long-term, no-cost loan agreement.
  • Exhibition areas: rooms on the piano nobile and ground floor will host installations that converse with the palace’s historic features.
  • Introductory media area: a multimedia zone next to the ticket office will present contextual materials and introductory artworks.
  • Updated digital guide: the museum’s web app will be revised to reflect the dual visit routes.

Many pieces will be reworked or created specifically for the permanent installation to sustain the dialogue between material, narrative and space. The agreement with the artists ensures long-term public access to this important body of work.

Cultural and tourism relevance

Hosting Bertozzi & Casoni permanently at Palazzo Tozzoni is intended to preserve the palace’s historical identity while highlighting a local artistic excellence. The project seeks to broaden Imola’s cultural offer and attract visitors who value authentic experiences combining heritage and contemporary practice.

About the artists: Bertozzi & Casoni are a ceramic studio originating in Imola, known for experimental approaches that make the dreamlike tangible. Their work often addresses themes such as desire, vanity and memento mori through striking sculptural forms.

Practical details on opening hours, guided tours and educational programs will be published by Imola Musei as the new exhibition timetable and visitor services are finalized.
