Nuit Européenne des Musées 2026 in Rome: program and how to attend

The Capitoline Superintendency presents a week of cultural events in Rome connected to the Nuit Européenne des Musées. From 22 to 28 May 2026 there will be special openings, guided tours, editorial presentations and screenings linked to current exhibitions. Below is a practical guide to the main events and how to take part.

  • Night of Museums – Saturday 23 May, extended evening hours 20:00–02:00: civic museums and cultural spaces open with live performances and special initiatives.
  • Museo di Roma at Palazzo Braschi – Wednesday 27 May, 17:00: book presentation Questa è una bella istoria. Il processo alla badessa di Castro (free entry in Sala Tenerani until seats are filled). Thursday 28 May, 16:30: Roma Racconta… cycle with historians and archaeologists.
  • Museo di Roma in Trastevere – Thursday 28 May, 17:00: Le parole delle scrittrici series, meeting on Rosa Luxemburg (free entry in Multimedia Room; booking recommended).
  • Casa del Cinema – program linked to Lanterne magiche. Photographs from the Valerio De Paolis collection (exhibition open until 6 September 2026): screenings include I, Daniel Blake (Fri 22 May, 17:30) and The Iron Lady (Mon 25 May, 20:00). Tickets available at the box office or online.
  • Roman Walks – Friday 22 May, 10:00: visit to Porta Pia and the Historical Museum of the Bersaglieri (booking required; not suitable for visitors with mobility issues). Tuesday 26 May, 10:00: Street Art itinerary in Garbatella (booking required).
  • Museum of the Roman Republic and Garibaldian memory – Saturday 23 May: 11:00 itinerary on the Janiculum with the traditional cannon firing; 16:00 book presentation.
  • aMICi – Roma MIC Card visits – Sunday 24 May, 11:00: guided tour of the exhibition Lungo le Strade Blu led by director and photographer Francesco Conversano (booking required).

Practical information

  • Period: 22–28 May 2026. For the Night of Museums many venues remain open in the evening from 20:00 to 02:00; check each venue’s specific hours.
