Rome’s Birthday 2026: Museums’ highlights (19–22 April)

To celebrate the 2779th birthday of Rome, the Sovrintendenza Capitolina together with Zètema Progetto Cultura present a citywide program of events in the Musei in Comune from 19 to 22 April 2026. The schedule includes exhibitions, guided tours and talks focused on the history, art and imagery of the capital.

Main events

  • 19 April – Museo di Casal de' Pazzi: launch of an unpublished comic book recounting the settlement origins and local prehistory.
  • 21 April – Museo di Roma in Trastevere: guided reading of Hervé Gloaguen’s photographs (1975–1995), an evocative portrait of the evolving city.
  • 21 April – Galleria d'Arte Moderna: routes focused on works depicting the eternal city and special visits exploring art and urban landscape.
  • 21 April – Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco: spotlight on Roman art and the Roman Hall.
  • 21 April – Mercati di Traiano – Museo dei Fori Imperiali: visit to the exhibition Constantin Brâncuşi: The Origins of the Infinite, investigating form and time.
  • 22 April – Museo di Roma: Living in Rome: squares, festivals and crafts, a selection of prints and drawings from the Prints Cabinet illustrating daily life between the 17th and 19th centuries.

Practical information

Activities are free of charge; access requires payment of the museum entrance fee according to current rates. Free entry is granted to residents of Rome and the Metropolitan City and to MIC card holders.

Reservations are mandatory: call the Contact Center 060608 (daily, 9:00–19:00). Participant limits are specified for each activity; if places are available, it may be possible to join on the same day at the venue.

Visitor tips

  • Check exact times and capacity for each event when booking.
  • Bring ID if claiming free entry as a resident or with a MIC card.
