Rome museums: free admission on Sunday 3 May 2026
On the first Sunday of the month, 3 May 2026, numerous sites in the Rome Capital Museums system and several archaeological areas will be open with free entry. Below are the main opening hours, access points, guided visits and practical advice to plan your visit.
Main sites and opening hours
- Parco Archeologico del Celio – from 07:00 to 20:00. Includes the Museo della Forma Urbis (open from 10:00 to 19:00, last admission at 18:00). Entrances: Viale del Parco del Celio 20/22 and Clivo di Scauro 4.
- Area Sacra di Largo Argentina – from 09:30 to 19:00 (last admission at 18:00). Entrance from via di San Nicola De' Cesarini, opposite number 10.
- Circo Massimo archaeological area – from 09:30 to 19:00 (last admission at 18:00).
- Fori Imperiali – entrance via Trajan's Column, from 09:00 to 19:15 (last admission one hour before closing).
Guided visits and special events
Free guided tours are scheduled at Palazzo Senatorio (Campidoglio), but advance booking by phone is required. Reservations will open on Thursday 30 April at 16:00. Tours in Italian will run in four time slots (10:00, 11:30, 15:00, 16:30), with a maximum of 30 participants per slot and a duration of about 75 minutes. To book call 060608.

Some temporary exhibitions at municipal venues will also be free; major paid exhibitions may still require an entrance fee.
