Monumenti Aperti in Oristano: 9 and 10 May 2026

On the weekend of 9–10 May 2026, Oristano joins Monumenti Aperti, an initiative devoted to promoting cultural heritage. The event features a city-wide route with 29 monument sites open to visitors and a full programme of related activities.

Sites to visit

The programme covers churches, historic palaces, towers and memorial sites that illustrate Oristano’s cultural identity. Highlights include:

  • Piazza Duomo and the Cathedral of Santa Maria
  • Church of San Francesco (housing the Cristo di Nicodemo)
  • Churches of Santo Spirito and San Mauro Abate
  • Carmine cloister and church, Church of San Domenico
  • Monastery of the Cappuccine, Santa Chiara church
  • Municipal historical archive and the public library
  • Diocesan Museum Arborense and Piazza Eleonora (Eleonora d'Arborea monument)
  • Palazzo Campus Colonna, Mariano II Tower, Portixedda Tower
  • The old washhouse and the 19th-century aqueduct complex
  • Byzantine tombs, the Tridentine Seminary and other historic venues
