Monumenta Italia — Cantiere Madama at Palazzo Madama (Turin)

Autore: Redazione 20/04/2026 02:37

Monumenta Italia / Cantiere Madama

From 20 April to 6 July 2026, Palazzo Madama hosts "Monumenta Italia - Cantiere Madama", an exhibition and research project curated by Tea Taramino with artist Irene Pittatore. The initiative investigates the scarcity of public monuments dedicated to women and encourages collective reflection on urban heritage and memory from a gender-aware perspective.

The display, set in the Piccola Guardaroba and the Gabinetto Cinese of Palazzo Madama, features a selection of works by the artist: posters, postcards, videos and a banner used in exhibitions, workshops, classes and public actions. The exhibition opens with a public talk and an inauguration on 20 April at 17:00.

Why visit

The project stems from a survey documenting the limited presence of female figures in public monuments and the even rarer presence of works made by women. Monumenta Italia offers a critical review and participatory tools to collect citizens' reports and contributions; QR codes in the show allow visitors to submit proposals that will be included in the project's catalogue.

What to expect

The exhibition combines visual and performative materials with research data: expect urban posters, documentation of public interventions and media that trace Monumenta Italia's activities across several cities. It's an opportunity to reflect on monumentality, memory and the representation of women in the urban landscape, and to actively contribute to the project's documentation.

Visitor tips: check opening times before visiting, arrive early for the public talk or vernissage if you plan to attend, and use the QR codes on site to submit items or suggestions for the catalogue.
