Autore: Redazione 12/05/2026 06:14

Montecassiano: renovation of Piazza Unità d'Italia begins on 13 May 2026

On 13 May 2026 the redevelopment of Piazza Unità d'Italia, at the core of Montecassiano's historic center (MC), will officially start. The intervention aims to recover the square's historical character while introducing practical measures to enhance comfort, accessibility and safety for residents and visitors.

Project overview

The plan includes restoration of surfaces and street furniture, upgrades to public lighting and targeted accessibility improvements. This work is part of a broader program to enhance the village, involving public buildings and cultural spaces.

Practical information for residents and visitors

  • Pedestrian access: entry to the square and local shops will remain possible on foot at all times.
  • Vehicles: allowed only for loading and unloading; parking will not be permitted within the construction area.
  • Traffic: circulation may be adjusted progressively according to work phases; the municipality will announce changes to minimize disruption.
  • Timing: official start on 13 May 2026; detailed phases and duration will be communicated by the local administration.

Related projects and funding

The square's upgrade is linked to other public interventions: conversion of the municipal building into an archive, seismic strengthening and reopening of the cine-theater, and restoration of the Palazzo dei Priori. Funding comes from municipal resources and contributions aimed at protecting historic heritage.

The municipal administration encourages residents, schools and businesses to cooperate during the construction period to facilitate works and ensure compliance with funding deadlines.
