Milano Art Week 2026: overview

From 13 to 19 April 2026, Milano Art Week returns to highlight the city’s contemporary art scene with a broad program spanning museums, galleries, foundations and public spaces. Coinciding with the miart fair, the week features more than 400 events organised by over 200 cultural organisations, including exhibitions, performances, talks, guided tours and workshops.

Museums at the centre

The museum program is central to the event: site-specific projects, rehangings and artistic interventions create dialogues between historical collections and contemporary practices. This edition aims to encourage new ways of experiencing museum displays across Milan.

Key projects and highlights

  • Ghost Track – a collaboration between the Civic Museums and MAC Milano Art Community where contemporary artists intervene within permanent collections of institutions not primarily dedicated to contemporary art (Castello Sforzesco, Civic Archaeological Museum, Natural History Museum, Civic Aquarium, Museum of the Risorgimento), offering fresh visual counterpoints without altering standard viewing.
  • PAC – the week opens with THE ONLY TRUE ANARCHY IS THAT OF POWER and a performance by Marco Fusinato.
  • GAM – site-specific work Παρνασσός / Parnassus by Letia in the Sala del Parnaso.
  • Museo del Novecento – new acquisitions and projects such as FOCUS900 and LOUNGE900 that renew the museum’s display strategies.
  • Palazzo Reale – major presentation of Anselm Kiefer’s works among the week’s main attractions.
  • MUDEC – continuing site-specific installations and international projects.
  • ArtLine Milano – the open-air collection at CityLife expands to 20 site-specific works, including Octospider by Jeremy Deller.

Related institutions and programs

The week also embraces activities in private institutions and cultural venues such as Fondazione Prada, Pirelli HangarBicocca, Triennale Milano, the Museum of Italian Design, the Swiss Institute, Fondazione ICA Milano, Fondazione Luigi Rovati, Gallerie d’Italia, Museo Poldi Pezzoli, Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, the National Museum of Science and Technology and ADI Design Museum.

Talks and special events

International dialogues and critical talks are part of the schedule, including events like Art for Tomorrow Talks addressing the blurry border between design and art, hosted at the Civic Aquarium.

Practical tips for visitors

  • Plan routes by neighbourhood: many events cluster in specific museum districts.
  • Check opening times and booking requirements in advance: some visits need reservations.
  • Milano Museo Card: grants free access to many Civic Museums—confirm terms and validity before you go.
  • Attend talks and workshops to gain context: the program is designed for both professionals and general audiences.
  • Use public transport to move efficiently between venues and avoid traffic delays.

Milano Art Week 2026 offers an opportunity to rediscover Milan’s museums through contemporary perspectives: explore collections, exhibitions and projects that connect art, design and visual culture across the city.
