Exhibition overview

The exhibition presents 70 of the 100 photographs included in the book The River Po. Created between 2007 and 2019, the series follows Italy’s largest river from its alpine source to the Adriatic delta, crossing the landscapes of the Po Valley. Kenna’s work relies on a slow, contemplative practice: careful attention to light, atmospheric conditions and varying exposure times produces minimalist, suspended landscapes in black and white.

Highlights

  • Selection of 70 handmade black-and-white prints from the The River Po project.
  • Images produced from 2007 to 2019 capturing fog, reflections and distilled horizons.
  • Accompanying 15-minute video interview featuring Kenna during his shoots along the river.

Why see it

This exhibition provides a meditative encounter with Italian landscape through Michael Kenna’s poetic gaze. The black-and-white medium narrows sensory detail and invites imagination, presenting the river and territory as subjects of silence, balance and reflection—essential viewing for photography and landscape enthusiasts.
