Mazzi unveils new initiatives for Italian music and music tourism

Italy's new tourism minister, Gianmarco Mazzi, outlined to ANSA a package of measures aimed at supporting Italian music and promoting music tourism as a cultural and economic resource. The interview took place in Vienna, where he was attending the Eurovision events.

Mazzi stressed the need to strengthen flagship events such as the Sanremo Festival and to boost the international reach of Italian artists: "Events like Sanremo represent a great opportunity," he said, adding that specific initiatives will be announced soon.

• Artist support: measures to help productions, tours and international exposure.
• Promotion of major festivals: enhancing national showcases as tools for cultural export.
• Development of music tourism: strategies to attract music fans who stay longer and benefit local economies.
• Promotion of niche tourism: wine tourism and heritage-root tourism to redirect flows to small towns and lesser-known areas.

For the minister, music tourism can become "an economic engine for our country", involving not only artists and productions but also visitors who generate local economic impact. Mazzi also recalled with fondness his collaboration with Sal Da Vinci at Sanremo 2009, noting the celebratory energy of musical events.
