Period: from 28 April to 31 December 2026
The National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (GNAMC) in Rome has selected Marinella Senatore as its 2026 Artist of the Year. The year-long project centers on a dedicated gallery room featuring more than forty works — drawings, collages, large-scale tapestries and a luminous sculpture — combined with a public program of workshops, talks and educational activities.
The dedicated room functions as a platform for exhibition, education and community engagement. The calendar includes lectures, workshops and meetings that invite students, scholars and wider communities to co-create and experience the work. The initiative follows the GNAMC model of hosting one Italian artist for a full year with an integrated exhibition and educational program.
The program opens on 28 April 2026 with Io contengo moltitudini, an event for students of the Rome Academy of Fine Arts that combines an introduction to the artist’s practice with a somatic movement session.
Institutional sponsors helped fund the project and enabled the museum to acquire the collages and tapestries, while the luminous sculpture was generously donated by the artist.
Practical tip: check GNAMC official channels for opening hours, ticketing and scheduled events before your visit. The dedicated room is part of the museum route and hosts activities throughout the exhibition period.
