“Water cultivates peace”: 26th National Week of Reclamation and Irrigation

The event was presented at the Focene pumping station near Rome. The 26th edition will take place from 16 to 24 May 2026, involving reclamation consortia across Italy to highlight the maintenance of hydrogeological systems and the role of hydraulic infrastructure.

The 2026 theme, “Water cultivates peace”, emphasizes water’s strategic role for environmental balance, agricultural production and territorial cooperation, promoting sustainable management and climate resilience.

• Extraordinary openings of major hydraulic facilities and guided tours of water-management plants.
• Cultural program with concerts, artistic events and outdoor initiatives.
• Family- and school-oriented activities: nature walks, educational paths, workshops and visits to research centers focused on sustainable irrigation.
• Sporting and river activities, including canoeing and sport fishing, to encourage responsible enjoyment of waterways.

The Week aims to bring citizens closer to the work of reclamation consortia and to showcase infrastructure that is essential for territorial safety and sustainable water management. The initiative is supported by national institutional and media partners.
