The exhibition catalogue for The Earth Is Always Blue collects images, critical essays and an interview with Kazumasa Mizokami. Curated by Loredana Parmesani and published by Allemandi (78 pages), the volume guides readers through sculptures and installations that renew Japanese ceramic traditions with international influences and a contemporary sensibility.
During the presentation, the artist and curator will discuss the works and the exhibition's underlying themes, then lead the audience on a guided tour of the installation in the evocative Sala delle Colonne at Castello di Novara.
Artist note: born in Arita, Japan on 10 March 1958, Mizokami grew up in a porcelain workshop. He graduated from the Seto Academy of Ceramic Arts in 1979, worked and taught in Mexico, moved to Italy in 1987 and completed a Sculpture diploma at Brera Academy in 1991. He currently lives and works in Milan.
The catalogue documents the exhibition with photographs and a critical text by the curator, providing insight into the artist's exploration of material, color and form. Visit the organisers' website for further details and updates.
