The Threshold: Massimo Campagna’s solo exhibition in Atri

Opening: Saturday 23 May at 6:00 PM at the Roman Cisterns of the Ducal Palace of the Dukes of Acquaviva, Atri. The exhibition will be on view until 20 June.

"The Threshold" presents an immersive itinerary focused on the threshold as a space of passage, reflection and change. Through a recent body of work, Campagna investigates the interplay between visible and invisible, and the tensions between personal memory and collective experience.

  • Venue: Roman Cisterns, Ducal Palace of the Dukes of Acquaviva, Atri
  • Dates: 23 May – 20 June 2026
  • Opening hours: daily 10:00–12:30; Tuesday and Thursday 15:30–17:30
  • Opening guests: Mayor Piergiorgio Ferretti, the artist Massimo Campagna, curator Giovanna Dello Iacono and Cultural Councillor Domenico Felicione

The works do not deliver definitive answers but open interpretative spaces that encourage active, aware participation. The historic setting of the Roman Cisterns enhances the conversation between contemporary art and the layers of local memory.

About the artist: Massimo Campagna lives and works in Italy. Trained at the State Institute of Art in Naples, his practice moved from large-format, material- and color-focused works to layered compositions that integrate iconic, photographic and textual elements. His work balances figuration and abstraction and has been shown in Italy and abroad.

About the curator: Giovanna Dello Iacono is a curator and artistic director with a background in sociology. She develops cultural projects and communication strategies and serves as artistic director of the ARIA Foundation, overseeing international programs and exhibitions.
