New acquisition: Francesco Vezzoli's "Nike Metafisica" at Museo di Santa Giulia
Museo di Santa Giulia in Brescia has officially acquired Nike Metafisica, a 2019 work by Francesco Vezzoli. The sculpture is installed in the museum's Viridarium, a contemporary garden-sculpture area where it engages directly with archaeological remains and the surrounding museum environment.
The piece reinterprets the classical iconography of the Winged Victory of Samothrace while incorporating references to 20th-century metaphysical painting, offering a contemporary reading of ancient models.
