From 6 March to 26 April the Castello Visconteo‑Sforzesco in Novara presents "La terra è sempre blu", a solo exhibition by Japanese artist Kazumasa Mizokami, curated by Loredana Parmesani. The show brings together sculptures, installations and works on paper that reinterpret Japanese ceramic heritage in a contemporary, poetic language.
The exhibited pieces — including painted terracottas and graphic works — feature pared‑down figures and forms that seem suspended in time. The display prompts reflection on the balance between humans and nature, on simplicity in relationships, and on the possibility of cultural and intergenerational coexistence.
The exhibition layout is designed to engage with the Castle's historic spaces and to encourage accessible and mediated visits, in line with the cultural association Solart’s mission to use contemporary art as a tool for community participation and growth.
Brief biography: born in Arita on 10 March 1958, Mizokami grew up in his family's porcelain workshop. After graduating from Seto Academy of Ceramic Arts in 1979, he worked and taught in Mexico before moving to Italy in 1987; he graduated in Sculpture from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in 1991 and currently lives and works in Milan.
The exhibition is aimed at a wide audience: families, ceramic enthusiasts and young people interested in contemporary art will find an installation designed to facilitate understanding and encourage cultural engagement.
