King Marracash: the docu-film in cinemas for three days

King Marracash is the first official documentary that examines the life and artistic journey of the Milanese rapper, exploring the relationship between his public persona and the man behind the fame. Directed by Pippo Mezzapesa, the film will screen in Italian cinemas for a limited run from 25 to 27 May 2026.

The documentary follows Marracash through a pivotal year of his career, marked by his first stadium tour in Italy and the landmark San Siro concert on 25 June 2025. The storytelling emphasizes everyday moments, behind-the-scenes scenes and intimate reflections rather than a simple concert montage.

What the film covers

  • Identity and roots: footage shot in Barona, the Milan neighborhood where he grew up, and in Sicily, his family's homeland.
  • Persona vs. person: the film contrasts Marracash's stage role with the private life of Fabio Rizzo.
  • Key events: scenes from the stadium tour, the San Siro show and the Marra Block Party as a symbolic return to his neighborhood.

Why watch it

The documentary delivers an in-depth view of creative processes and the emotional pressures of fame, presenting a human and social portrait of the Italian rap scene. It is especially relevant for those interested in audiovisual biographies, studies of urban peripheries and cultural acts of reclamation.
