Italia Nostra turns 70: exhibition and reprint of 'La Basilicata'

To mark its 70th anniversary, Italia Nostra is presenting a documentary exhibition in Potenza and Senise together with an anastatic reprint of Umberto Zanotti Bianco's important 1957 study. The initiative highlights the association's long-standing work in protecting cultural heritage, landscape and local communities.

• Opening: 17:00, Conference Hall of the Polo Bibliotecario, Potenza.
• Reprint presentation: 17:30 — the anastatic edition of 'La Basilicata' by Umberto Zanotti Bianco, a key text for understanding Lucania's cultural and territorial history.

  • Potenza, Polo Bibliotecario: 24 April–7 May 2026 (Mon–Fri: 8:00–19:00; Sat: 8:00–14:00).
• Speakers and greetings: contributions from Luigi Catalani (Director, Biblioteca Nazionale di Potenza), Edoardo Croci (National President, Italia Nostra), Domenico Totaro (President, Italia Nostra Senise Pollino Lucano) and scholarly interventions by Isabella Marchetta, Francesca Martorella and Giampaolo D'Andrea.

The exhibition traces seven decades of activity through archival documents, photographs and testimonies, offering a critical perspective on the relationship between cities, nature and land use. The reprint of Zanotti Bianco seeks to reconnect readers with a historical understanding of the Basilicata region, informing contemporary discussions on landscape protection.

For the public: the program is open to citizens, students and cultural professionals as a moment to discuss conservation and territorial regeneration practices.
