Dates: April 10 to October 4, 2026. Gres Art 671 in Bergamo presents "Museum Dreams", the first comprehensive Italian retrospective dedicated to Isaac Julien, a leading figure in contemporary visual art.
The exhibition is conceived in close relation to the building's architecture, where image, sound, choreography and spatial design merge to create an immersive experience. Curated by Nathan Ladd, the show spans more than thirty years of Julien's practice and features five large multichannel video installations — four presented in Italy for the first time — together with historical photographs, sculptures and archival documents.
The route questions the museum as a static repository, proposing instead a dynamic site where projections and narratives activate collective and personal memories. The installation highlights the interplay between artworks and architecture, inviting visitors into an engaged, interpretive encounter.
Practical information: check Gres Art 671's official website or contact the venue for opening times, ticketing and reservations. Allow at least an hour for the visit, longer if you wish to examine archival materials.
With "Museum Dreams", Isaac Julien continues to challenge visual and narrative conventions: the exhibition is a key appointment for anyone interested in contemporary moving-image practices and the relationship between art and architectural space.
