The King's Painter: guided tours and workshops for the Luigi Norfini exhibition

The Museo Nazionale di Villa Guinigi, together with Palazzo Mansi, presents the exhibition "The King's Painter. Luigi Norfini in the Italy of the Risorgimento", on display until 26 April 2026. The monograph marks the bicentenary of Norfini's birth and brings together his paintings alongside works by leading Risorgimento artists such as Giovanni Fattori, Silvestro Lega and Telemaco Signorini, with loans from major museums and private collections.

The exhibition is organized into thematic sections that trace the artist's career and the cultural and political shifts of 19th-century Italy, featuring works depicting battles, portraits and scenes of bourgeois and aristocratic life.

Activities and schedule

  • Themed guided tours at the Museo Nazionale sites: Villa Guinigi and Palazzo Mansi.
  • A practical workshop focused on ebanistery and marquetry runs throughout April: live demonstrations, period-style reproductions and insight into historical woodworking techniques.
  • Next themed tour: Friday 17 April at 11:00 (led by museum staff). Booking recommended.

Practical information

  • Admission to the guided tours is included with the museum ticket.
  • For bookings and information: [email protected] or tel. +39 334 6537619.
  • Arrive a few minutes early and check the museum website for any schedule updates.

The exhibition is promoted and supported by regional and local cultural institutions. It offers an in-depth view of Norfini's work and the artistic context of the Italian Risorgimento.
