The Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro presents a focused exhibition revealing the only colour project by renowned photographer Mimmo Jodice. The show includes over forty photographs, many restored or never before displayed, that explore 17th-century Neapolitan painting by isolating intimate details and reimagining them in a contemporary photographic language.

Why visit

Known primarily for his black-and-white work, Jodice’s colour images from the 1980s offer an analytical and emotional reading of painting: colour becomes a tool to reveal texture, gesture and expression. The exhibition creates a dialogue between the photographs and the museum’s treasures.

Exhibition design and credits

Curated by Sylvain Bellenger and produced by D'Uva srl in collaboration with Mimmo Jodice Studio, the installation was conceived for the spaces of the Tesoro. Site-specific velvets and baroque-inspired fabrics were created to frame the photographs, enhancing the chromatic relationship between Jodice’s images and the museum’s works. Textile design was overseen by Maddalena Marciano with contributions from students at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli.
