Certosa di Firenze presents an exhibition commemorating the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi's Canticle of the Creatures. The show features works by Serena Nono and Nicola Golea, displayed in the atmospheric hall of the Pinacoteca di Pontormo.
Titled "The Canticle of the Creatures and the Flower of Franciscan Mysticism. Tribute to Saint Francis of Assisi | 1226 – 2026", the exhibition brings together paintings and portraits that explore mystical themes, the bond with nature and spiritual longing inspired by the Canticle.
Opening: Sunday 26 April 2026 at 17:30, with piano and harp performances and readings from the Canticle and texts by Franciscan mystics.
Serena Nono often addresses mystical themes and sacred art with expressive portraits and figures. Nicola Golea paints landscapes and portraits that convey inner life and wonder at nature. Both are based in Venice and have collaborated on exhibitions and film projects.
The exhibition invites visitors to engage with the spiritual heritage of the Canticle through contemporary visual languages designed for a broad audience.
