In 2025 the top 100 art museums worldwide recorded more than 200 million visits in total. While the sector shows recovery signs since the pandemic, several major institutions have yet to return to their 2019 attendance levels due to shifts in tourism patterns and visitor behaviour.

  • Museo Nacional de Antropología, Mexico City — 5,048,893 visitors
  • Shanghai Museum East, Shanghai — 4,593,216 visitors
  • Tate Modern, London — 4,514,266 visitors

These are the five Italian museums with the highest attendance in 2025:

  • Vatican Museums, Rome — 6,933,822 visitors (2nd globally)
  • Galleria dell'Accademia, Florence — 2,279,825 visitors
  • Palazzo Ducale, Venice — 1,355,689 visitors
  • Egyptian Museum, Turin — 1,273,354 visitors
  • Capitoline Museums, Rome — 860,018 visitors

Note: The Uffizi reported approximately 5.3 million visitors across its three interconnected sites but did not provide site-specific data, so it is not listed among single-site rankings.
