Herbaria: exploring historic herbaria at Collegio San Francesco

On Sunday 15 March at 4:00 PM, the Library of Collegio San Francesco (via San Francesco 21, Lodi) will welcome the public for an afternoon dedicated to the old herbaria preserved in the college's Natural Sciences Museum. The event is aimed at visitors interested in botanical collections and their scientific and historical value.

• Lombardy-Veneto Herbarium: more than 5,000 specimens collected across Lombardy and Veneto, reflecting 19th-century regional flora.
• Italian Cryptogamic Herbarium: over 1,500 specimens of ferns, mosses, lichens, fungi and algae gathered in the late 1800s.

The program features two speakers: Romana Bravi (researcher at the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics) and Erika Maderna (historian and author). Presentations will cover the collections' characteristics, preservation practices and the role of herbaria in botanical and historical research.
